TOKYO — Japanese manufacturers’ business
sentiment fell to the lowest since February 2021 as firms
struggled with growing cost pressures, while the
service-sector’s mood improved to a more than two-year high, the
Reuters Tankan poll showed.
The Reuters Tankan index readings are derived by subtracting
the percentage of respondents who say conditions are poor from
those who say they are good. A positive reading means that
optimists outnumber pessimists.
