BEIJING, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) — The following is a summary of published science and technology news in China.

PATENT TRANSFERS GROWTH

China has witnessed growth in the number of patent transfers and licenses over the past year, the country’s top intellectual property (IP) regulator said on Wednesday.

In 2021, the number of patent transfers and licenses nationwide reached 420,000, up 15 percent year on year. Among them, the growth rate in low-carbon industries such as green new energy is more than twice the national average, the National Intellectual Property Administration revealed at its monthly press conference.

OFFSHORE UNDERSEA DETECTION

China’s independently developed offshore undersea mobile detection system Haizhe, also called Jellyfish, has completed its 3,000-meter deep sea trial in a methane seep zone of the South China Sea and passed the acceptance.

Featuring the functions of in situ detection, sampling of seawater, pore water and sediment, non-destructive transfer and testing, the system can operate in the vast majority of seas at the maximum depth of more than 3,000 meters.

ENERGY PARTICLE DETECTOR

The energy particle detector deployed on Wentian, the first lab module of China’s space station, will help the Shenzhou-14 crew members carry out extravehicular activities (EVAs), according to the China Manned Space Agency.

The Wentian module has been operating stably in orbit for nearly a month, and the Shenzhou-14 crew has been training and preparing for their first EVAs during the mission.
