BEIJING, March 24 (Xinhua) — The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

LIVE CLASS FROM SPACE STATION

The second live class from China’s space station was held on Wednesday afternoon, delivered by Shenzhou-13 crew members Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu to students on Earth.

Wang, assisted by the other two crew members, conducted several scientific experiments, such as the crystallization of supersaturated solution, a liquid bridge demonstration, water-oil separation and throwing objects under the zero-gravity condition, amazing numerous students on Earth.

IMAGES OF MARS

China’s Tianwen-1 orbiter has beamed back high-resolution images of Mars, showing dust storms on the surface of the planet.

Released by the China National Space Administration on Thursday, the new pictures with a resolution of 0.5 meters were captured by a camera on the probe, which has been operating in orbit for 609 days at a distance of 277 million km from Earth.

Track marks left by Mars rover Zhurong can be seen in the pictures. With its 306 Martian days of service, the rover has traveled a total of 1,784 meters on the planet.

BRICS VACCINE RESEARCH

A launch ceremony for the BRICS Vaccine Research and Development (R&D) Center was held online on Tuesday.

China will work with other BRICS countries to use the center’s launch as an opportunity to promote exchanges and cooperation on vaccine R&D and testing.

China will work with these countries to jointly establish plants and the mutual recognition of standards, so as to strengthen the defense against COVID-19 and deliver hope and confidence for global economic recovery.
