Lowell Catholic made its way to Lynn Tech for a track and field meet, quickly learning that the Tigers meant business in their home jungle.
The Tech boys, who moved to 3-2 on the season, were led by Bryton Osgood who finished first in the 1-mile. Diego Castro impressed, too, winning the 600.
On the girls’ side, Jirelis DeJesus remained undefeated in the 55 high hurdles and 300 to help keep the Lady Tigers undefeated.
Lynn Tech returns to action Monday against Greater Lawrence in Boston at 3:30 p.m.
SWIMMING AND DIVING
Medford 87
Lynn Classical 75
Despite a Classical loss in enemy territory, positives were aplenty against Medford in an 87-75 final.
Second place finishes came from Camille Mendonca in the 200 freestyle and 100 fly, Andrew Moore in the 50 free, and David Gamero in the 100 free.
The 200 medley relay team of Mendonca, Amanda Hughes, Moore, and Kaydee Rouse, as well as the 200 free team of Gamero, Jakub Polski, Rouse and Mason Clarke both impressed in the loss.
Classical’s next meet is a home one against Salem on Monday.
Marblehead 105
Gloucester 72
At the Lynch/Van Otterloo YMCA Thursday night, Marblehead swam all the way to a 5-0 record – that’s because the Magicians defeated the Fishermen, 105-72, behind coach Susan Guertin.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
KIPP 35
Innovation 33
Call it a close one. Behind Katrina Fortes (13 points, 12 rebounds, 5 blocks) and Sky Delacruz (8 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists), KIPP’s girls basketball team shot its way to a narrow victory against Innovation, 35-33.
Lynn Classical 49
Everett 47
In “a tight game all night,” according to coach Tom Sawyer, his Lady Rams defeated Everett, 49-47, down the stretch. Keisha Perez dropped 17 points, followed by Linda Jallow and Lauren Wilson who scored eight apiece for visiting Classical.
The Lady Rams host Malden on Tuesday.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Lynn English 76
Somerville 52
No homecourt, no problem for the Lynn English Bulldogs, who pounced all over Somerville, 76-52, on Thursday. Leading the charge was Louis Ledesma, who netted 25 points and dished out five assists.
Pierre Veras (12 points, 12 rebounds), Pauwill Deng (13 points), and Marvin Perkins (10 points) also played well for English, which advanced to 9-2 on the season.
