The boys basketball Pioneers were as versatile as can be Wednesday evening, leaving Revere High with a 38-33 win in a Christmas tournament. Better yet, they upped their record to 3-0.
Chris Daniels (13 points), Alex Fleming (8), and lain McCarthy (8) led the charge against the Patriots.
Lynnfield will take on East Boston on Thursday.

Round one of the David Green Memorial Tournament was underway, and Saugus emerged victorious, setting up a date with Greater Lawrence Tech at Winthrop High on Thursday (2 p.m.).
The Sachems were led by Isaiah Rodriguez (13 points), Danny Shea (7), Cam Soroko (7), Cam Victor (5), Huey Josama (5), Ryan Shea (4), Braden Faiella (4), and Nathan Soroko (3).

Peabody (4-1) met its match against an explosive Manchester-Essex side, falling 65-38 in enemy territory. Jariel Tolentino (15 points) and Raphel Laurent (13) performed well offensively.

After an up and down week for Fenwick’s boys basketball team (3-4), it responded in dominant fashion against Salem Academy on Wednesday. Brady Jenkins scored 26 points to go with five steals, Jimmy Vahey recorded nine points, five steals, and 18 rebounds, and James Meklis dished out seven assists alongside his seven points.

Coming off a win against St. Mary’s in which Mike Miller (23 points) and Jeremiah Polanco (18) led the Eagles’ charge, The Prep ran into trouble against Andover at Merrimack College.

Even with a 7:30 p.m. puck drop, it wasn’t too late for high school hockey as St. Mary’s squared off against Natick Wednesday night.
After a scoreless first period – and nearly a similar second frame – Joey Calder scored off an assist from Cam McGonagle with 1:45 remaining in the second period to break the ice.
Just like that, a third period explosion. Chase Collins, Caleb Racki (shorthanded), Aidan Fitzpatrick, and Finn Racki did the goal-scoring duties in the final frame, and that was all she wrote on Natick.

Jake Vana tucked the empty-netter against BC High, and that was all she wrote after a dominant performance from The Prep. Brendan Powers scored his first career goal, while Cam Umlah potted the other to kick off the scoring.
The Eagles take on Pope Francis in Thursday’s Pete Frates Winter Classic title game at 3:10 p.m.

In the consolation game of the Christmas tournament at Connery Rink in Lynn, the Jets flew short against Peabody-Saugus, which cruised to a 4-0 win.

The undefeated Spartans (5-0-1) finally met their match in Pope Francis, still salvaging a draw by the final whistle. Led by Vanessa Hall’s two goals, St. Mary’s overcame a 5-1 third period deficit to tie the game.

Ava Buckley scored on a rebound just 38 seconds in, but the goal-scoring slowed down each and every period. After a Winthrop equalizer, Catie Kampersal’s backhander served as the game-winning tally.
