No home ice, no problem for Swampscott (2-0-1), which handled St. Bernard’s, 3-0, on Wednesday. Will Roddy led the way with two goals, including the empty-netter to seal it.

Ryan Frary also scored, while Quinn Hitchcock picked up two assists. Derek Faia, Jackson Bartram, and Greg Balchenkoff all picked up helpers, and Dom Pappalardo made 22 saves for a shutout.

St. John’s Prep, which outshot La Salle 32-10 and won 3-1, picked up its first win of the season. Ryan DeLucia scored his first varsity goal – the dagger in the third period.

Johnny Tighe scored a goal for the Eagles, also dishing one to Christian Rosa.

It was one of those nights for the Headers, who fell 7-0 at the hands of the Hawks. Essex Tech scored four goals in the first 10 minutes, and controlled the action from there.

Marblehead plays Barrington Tuesday at Talbot Rink in Gloucester with puck-drop scheduled for 5 p.m.

The visiting Sachems met their match in Triton Wednesday night, leaving with a loss. Leading scorers for Saugus were Danny Shea (7 points), Cam Victor (5), Huey Josama (4), and Cam Soroko (4).

“We struggled to make shots, but still played well and hard as a team,” said coach Joe Bertrand.

Looking to bounce back, Saugus hosts Amesbury at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

In a battle of defending state champions, call it a comeback.

St. Mary’s finished off its Western Massachusetts opponent with a 22-4 run, led by Reese Matela (23 points, 12 rebounds) and Charleigh Green (8 points).

Better yet, the coach Jeff Newhall and his Lady Spartans are 5-0.

The holidays are right around the corner, and the Crusaders are still perfect – this time, a 25-point thrashing of Newburyport. Cecilia Kay led Fenwick with 18 points, 15 rebounds, and five blocks.

Celia Neilson “was great on both ends,” as said by coach Adam DeBaggis, with 12 points, four assists, and eight steals. Anna Fertonani had eight points and three assists, while Isabella Lopez-Marin added four points and five steals.

Fenwick (3-0) plays Bishop Feehan Friday in its first home game.

In dominant fashion, the Lady Tanners upped their record to 3-0, led by Logan Lomasney’s triple double of 18 points, 10 assists, and 13 rebounds.

Ally Bettencourt (19 points, 7 assists, 7 steals), Abby Bettencourt (10 points, 7 assists, 5 steals), and Sophia Coburn (10 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals) all played strong games, as did Aliana Ryan, Olivia Gaynor, and Maia Davis, according to coach Stan McKeen.

By way of shutout, the Peabody-Lynnfield-North Reading girls hockey team met its match at home. Ava Baker and Antonia Dizoglio potted the Malden Catholic goals, while Taylor Daley was perfect between the pipes.

Classical swam short against Somerville, but “did have many swimmers improve their times,” according to coach Denise Silva.

The 200 free relay team of Kaydee Rouse, Amanda Hughes, Samuel Martin, and Chris Guerra placed first, as did the 400 free team of Andrew Moore, Gianna Fortes, Kaydee Rouse, and Camille Mendonca.

The Rams visit Malden High on Thursday.
