The Seahawks announced the return of Game Changers, presented by Symetra, a youth empowerment program helping to develop youth leaders who inspire change, done in partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of King County. John Boyle

The Game Changers initiative is back this spring to help empower youth development among Boys & Girls Club youth and teens. The program had been paused in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Game Changers presented by Symetra, which launched in 2019, is a partnership with the Seahawks and Boys & Girls Clubs of King County, that helps develop youth leaders who inspire change in their communities.

Game Changers, with help from the Seahawks, will host a digital space for Boys & Girls Club staff to gather, share and learn.

Game Changers’ interactive and empowering virtual events this spring include a virtual kickoff event with an appearance by Seahawks defensive back Ugo Amadi, a Game Changers player ambassador, as well as events with Seahawks Legend Jordan Babineaux, former UW and Olympic volleyball player Courtney Thompson, Choose 180 executive director Sean Goode, a One Love Workshop focused on healthy relationships, and a Seahawks panel discussion and end of school year celebration.

“I am super excited to spend this school year with you virtually while you learn from guest speakers about race, academics, entrepreneurship, and activism,” Amadi said in a letter to Game Changers participants. “Some of my fondest memories come from middle and high school – meeting new classmates and teachers from different classes and as I was introduced to new subjects, I started to think about I what I wanted to be when I grew up.

“I cherish the people who taught me discipline, hard work and dedication. I hope you make the most of your time by asking questions, getting out of your comfort zone and trying new things as you move through Game Changers. I want to leave you all with a quote that gets me going everyday: ‘Your uniqueness is your greatest gift.’ So, be yourself because an original is way more valuable than a copy. Love you kids!”
