Two years of unemployment have left one woman struggling to provide for her child and ailing mother this holiday season.

In the current economic climate, finding work with an adequate income is a challenge for virtually everyone. Nationwide inflation hits even harder in a state with one of the highest costs of living. While this mother just recently broke through with a new job, the financial damage has already been done.

In addition, she has to look after her own mother, who suffers from congestive heart failure. However, doing so with no income has left her with a lot of ground to make up.

“I’ve been playing catch-up with all the late bills and payments, which doesn’t leave income for much else,” she said.

Christmas is the favorite time of year for millions of children, and the memories they make with their families on Christmas morning are irreplaceable. This mother wants to do everything in her power to give her child the experience he deserves, so his Christmas spirit does not dissipate for reasons out of his control.

“I would greatly appreciate Item Santa’s help, so my son is able to celebrate Christmas and still believe in Santa as long as he can,” she said.
