You know what I’ve been thinking? The St. John’s Prep Eagles did more than fly this week – they made statements.
In a 3-0 week, ending with a 6-1 cruise against St. John’s High on Wednesday, it was pure dominance.
Earlier in the week in a tough road matchup against rival Xaverian, St. John’s Prep celebrated five goals – and bragging rights – in a 5-2 final.
The Eagles’ penalty kill was on point in the third period – AJ Farese impressed in that regard – while goal-scoring duties were handled by Christian Rosa (2), Mason Luciano (2), and Cooper Hosmer.
Fast forward to Sunday at the Canton Ice Box (Catholic Conference Hockey Challenge), and Prep overcame a first-period deficit to defeat Catholic Memorial, 4-1.
CM scored just 30 seconds into the action, but it was followed by a Prep explosion. Goal-scorers Caleb White, Johnny Tighe, Rosa, and Luciano did the honors.
Hosmer received the Derek Hines Fund Player of the Game, as announced by the team’s account on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The Prep visits BC High this Sunday with puck-drop set for 1:30 p.m. at UMass Boston.
To the high-flying Eagles, keep making those statements.
