Aidan Fitzpatrick – St. Mary’s boys hockey

When head coach Matt Smith calls you the most talented forward on the team, look no further. St. Mary’s Aidan Fitzpatrick returns for another hockey season, and the fans at Connery Rink should be in for more goal celebrations.

Take out conference MVP Brady Bullock (27 points), and Fitzpatrick was St. Mary’s leading scorer last season with 23. The forward scored 10 goals and dished out 13 assists for the Spartans, who went 12-6-3 in the Catholic Central.

Alyse Mutti – PLNR girls hockey

Who doesn’t love a reliable goalie? Last season for the Peabody-Lynnfield-North Reading girls hockey team, Alyse Mutti defined those words.

From highlight-reel stops to positional saves with ease, she did it all. Mutti played 1,035 minutes and in 20 games, made 380 saves, recorded a .938 save percentage, and allowed just 1.05 goals per contest.

With a few strong seniors moved on, Mutti looks to keep her superstar status intact for PLNR.

Giovanni Jean – Lynn Tech boys basketball

He was just a freshman. Now, in year two, Giovanni Jean of Lynn Tech looks for another Commonwealth Athletic Conference title – and maybe more.

Jean can shoot, finish, dish, and – something Tech fans know well – electrify the crowd on a nightly basis. Jean put up 16 points and six assists per game as a freshman, but just as importantly, never forced things and kept his turnover numbers down.

For vibrant coach Corey Bingham, Jean, and a few other young players, it’s only the beginning for the Tigers.

Peyton DiBiasio – Saugus girls basketball

Two words: freshman phenom. That’s exactly what DiBiasio was for Saugus last season, and after a tournament appearance in Division 3, it’s time for more.

Averaging more than 18 points and six rebounds, DiBiasio was a threat from anywhere on the court. She could rise up, blow by her defender, and deliver when double teams caved in on her.

Despite her sophomore year just days away, DiBiasio has already scored more than 500 career points.

Alex Jackson – Peabody track and field

A season ago, Peabody’s Alex Jackson threw a 54-7.75 in shot put and was named Field Athlete of the Meet at two state showings for the Tanners. Jackson also took home Peabody’s team MVP, and was named to the Northeastern Conference squad behind coach Fernando Braz.

Jackson’s shot put record broke a previous one of 47 years, and he anchored the shot put relay team that was victorious in Division 2 for the third consecutive season.

Mason Hinshaw – Marblehead-Swampscott wrestling

If you wrestle on the North Shore in the 138-145 pound division, you might want to avoid Mason Hinshaw of Marblehead and Swampscott’s co-op team.

The wrestler went 32-12 last season, and the accolades poured in. Hinshaw placed third at the Anthony Lisitano Meet, first at the Daniel Gionet Meet, and won the Cape Ann League/Northeastern Conference. Adding to the list, he placed fourth at the Division 1 North Sectionals, and seventh in states.

Let’s see what he’s got in year three.
