October 11, 2026 — October baseball reaches its most electric stage tonight, as the Milwaukee Brewers host the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series at American Family Field — a rematch of last year’s pennant fight with a trip to the World Series on the line.

First pitch is set for 7pm Central time, with the 103-win Brewers — the top seed in the National League — holding home-field advantage over the 100-win Dodgers. Milwaukee punched its ticket by eliminating the San Diego Padres in four games, sealed by late heroics and a stunning leaping catch at the centre-field wall that robbed Manny Machado of a game-tying home run.

The Dodgers, meanwhile, dispatched the Atlanta Braves in four, powered by clutch hitting and a dominant bullpen. But history favours Los Angeles: the clubs have met three times before in the postseason — in 2018, 2020 and 2025 — and the Dodgers have won all three series.

Tonight’s pitching matchup is appointment viewing. Milwaukee is expected to lean on its young ace, the presumptive National League Cy Young winner, while the Dodgers counter with their own frontline starter in what analysts are billing as a duel between power pitching and October experience. All eyes will also be on Shohei Ohtani, whose quiet division series has the baseball world waiting for an explosion.

In the American League, the Tampa Bay Rays — fresh off a stunning sweep of the Yankees — await the winner of the weekend’s decisive Game 5 between the Cleveland Guardians and the Chicago White Sox. The ALCS begins on Monday. But tonight, all roads lead to Milwaukee.

Fox will carry tonight’s opener nationwide, with the series set to run through at least Thursday in Los Angeles. For Milwaukee — a franchise still chasing its first World Series title since the city’s 1982 heartbreak — this is the biggest home game in years. For the Dodgers, it is another step in a dynasty bid. Whatever happens, October baseball does not get much better than this.
