Journey’s concert in Tulsa came to an abrupt halt on Thursday night after drummer Deen Castronovo suffered a medical scare onstage and was rushed to hospital, according to reports from the venue.

Castronovo fell ill just two songs into the band’s set at the BOK Center, where Journey is performing on its “Final Frontier” tour. The show stopped as the drummer was helped from the stage. Shortly afterwards, keyboardist Jonathan Cain stepped to the microphone and told the packed crowd that Castronovo had suffered a medical emergency.

There was no immediate official word on his condition or on whether the remainder of the evening’s performance would be rescheduled. Fans inside the arena described a sudden, sombre pause in what had begun as a celebratory night of the band’s arena-sized catalogue.

Castronovo is not a hired hand in this band’s story. A powerhouse drummer and backing vocalist, he has been central to Journey’s live sound across multiple eras, anchoring songs that demand both precision and stamina — and a drum chair that sits at the physical heart of a two-hour rock show leaves no room to hide feeling unwell.

The band has not announced changes to upcoming tour dates. For now, the only statement that matters is the one fans in Tulsa were already making as they filed out: get well first; the songs will wait. Updates on Castronovo’s condition are expected from the band.
