Cleveland’s season was nine outs from ending. Instead, it is going back home for a decider.

Watch the full highlights from Game 4 of the American League Division Series, as the Guardians beat the Chicago White Sox 9-5 at Rate Field to even the series at two games each. José Ramírez homered and drove in three runs, Patrick Bailey added a pinch-hit home run, and a six-run sixth inning — capped by Jo Adell’s two-run single — broke the game open against a suddenly weary Chicago bullpen.

The White Sox, who won the first two games in Cleveland, have now lost two straight chances to close the series out. Game 5 is set for Saturday night in Cleveland, where the Guardians will try to complete a comeback from 2-0 down in a best-of-five series — something no team has managed since 2017.

Why this decider matters beyond one night: coming back from 2-0 down in a best-of-five has been done only a handful of times in division-series history, and not at all since 2017 — the fact the Guardians’ own report leads with. Cleveland also get the decider at home after winning twice in Chicago, which flips the pressure squarely onto a White Sox bullpen that has now been stretched across two straight long nights. In a winner-take-all game, expect both managers to treat every inning from the fifth onward like the ninth: starters on short leashes, closers available early, and no at-bat conceded.

Game 5 is Saturday night in Cleveland. However it ends, one season finishes there — and Press Headliner will carry the full highlights and the story behind them, with any correction handled openly through our Corrections page.
